We had a great day in the park for trail work. We paired up with the Colorado Springs Chapter of #TheMissionContinues for a day of volunteering and 9/11 remembrance. It resulted in over 40 people coming out to work on the South Canyon Trail. It was awesome.
We were shy on people volunteering for dog waste and trash cleanup, which was unfortunate. Luckily, we did have a family volunteer day-of to do some dog waste cleanup, which was very much appreciated! Hopefully, the coming months will see some more help in these areas.
The trail work went fantastic. We were able to tackle most of the remaining issue spots with the South Canyon trail; removing washed out ruts, rebuilding and building new drainages, and armoring vulnerable sections. Thanks to all who gave a fair amount of sweat to do some great work. Also, want to give a shout out to Ace Hardware as well. They were kind enough to donate 5 gallon buckets and a bunch of rock hammers that we really needed. We put all of them to good work!
We will be pairing-up once again with #TheMissionContinues for our October 7th workday, so please keep on the lookout for the posting and signups for that day. There’s always more trail work to do and more waste to pickup and we couldn’t do it without your help.
See you in the park!
